Jason Carter Statement on Labor Day

Statement

Date: Sept. 1, 2014
Location: Atlanta, GA

Sen. Jason Carter issued the following statement today in recognition of Labor Day.

"Today we recognize the people who work hard to build an economy that works for all Georgians. From teachers to firemen, from people working on the manufacturing line to nurses caring for the elderly, working people are the backbone of our economy.

"Far too many Georgians are looking for work on this Labor Day. With more than 370,000 people looking for work in Georgia, we now rank 50th in unemployment. At the same time, many of our biggest employers can't find the workers with the right skills to do the jobs they need done.

"Georgia needs leadership that will invest in our workforce, giving workers the skills they need to get the best jobs and grow our economy."
